Your body needs a good digestive and excretion system inorder to maintain proper functioning. In fact, a lot of bodilyailments are rooted in a dysfunctional excretion system, orconstipation.
Constipation is associated with trouble in passing stools. This condition arises due to any disturbance in the digestive track. Due to constipation, excreta gets collected in the body. Medically, constipation signifies failure to discharge waste matter from the body, on a regular basis. In ayurveda, it is referred to as Aanaaha. Koshtha baddhata is another term used to describe constipation in Ayurveda.
The two main types of constipation are occasional and chronic.
Occasional constipation is a short term condition that is not very frequent, and does not cause much stress on the system. It can be relieved by bringing certain modifications to diet and lifestyle. Over-the- counter medications are also of use.
In chronic constipation, the typical symptoms of constipation are characterized by straining, hard or lumpy stools and the symptoms last for 3 months.
