About Constipation
Constipation is defined medically as fewer than five stools per week and severe constipation as less than one stool per week.

Symptoms and Causes
Some of the symptoms of constipation include

1. lower abdominal discomfort
2. infrequent bowel movements
3. straining to have a bowel movement
4. hard stools
5. rectal bleeding
6. anal fissures caused by hard stools
7. physiological distress
8. swollen abdomen or abdominal pain.
9. vomiting
10. obsession with having bowel movements
11. gas
12. indigestion
13. loss of appetite

The causes of Constipation are not eating enough fiber, not drinking much water, slimming diets, Some medical condition such as underactive thyroid and irritable bowel syndrome. Remedial action:

Home Remedies
1. Drink a full glass of water every morning when you get up. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day.
2. Put a teaspoonful of ghee into a glass of warm water and drink before bedtime each evening.
3. Chew all food slowly and thoroughly.
4. Exercise regularly.
5. Consume a tablespoon of castor oil.
6. Eat a diet that's high in fiber.
7. Do not consume processed foods.
8. Increase dietary fiber to about 25 g per day for women and 38 g per day for men by eating whole grains, especially flaxseed, fruits, and vegetables.
9. Schedule regular times for bowel movements to condition your body.
